First snowfall of the season thrilled tourists and residents triggering a cold wave across the state as the maximum temperature plummeted further by 1 to 2 degrees celsius. Major tourist places like Narkanda, Kufri, and Fagu experienced moderate snowfall, making the hill stations more charming and visit able for tourists.

This year it is going to happen after a span of 22 Years. Last time it had snowed on Christmas in Shimla in 1991. The Hotel industry cheered up in the hope that winter tourists will converge in large numbers ahead of Christmas.
The mercury dipped down drastically in the state as the minimum temperature in Manali was 1.2 degrees below the freezing point. The town received 18 cm of snow. Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state at minus 4 degrees Celsius.
It was 7.2 degrees above the freezing point in Dharamsala, minus 3 degrees in Kalpa, minimum temperature of 0.2 degrees celsius was noted in Shimla where as the maximum temperature was 10.5 degrees celsius. Manali was colder with minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees celsius and maximum temperature of 10.2 degrees celsius. The Solang ski slopes, 13 km uphill from Manali, and Kalpa, 250 km from the Shimla, also received snowfall.
