Shimla Airport is at Jubbarhatti, 23 kms from city and is presently not connected to any city as none of the airlines fly to Shimla. Earlier Shimla was connected with a daily flight with Delhi. Air India and now closed down Kingfisher Airlines used to connect Shimla with New Delhi with a daily flight.

It is the only and nearest airport to Shimla town. Shimla Airport Jubbarhatti is situated at Jubbbarhatti near Shimla. The airstrip has been cut out of a mountain and leveling the area to form the single runway.
The runway of this airport is of 1230 meters which can handle average airlines to land on this airport. The small apron has space for two small aircraft to park simultaneously. The small terminal can handle 50 persons for arriving flights, but only 40 for departing flights.
Kingfisher Airlines, operating the only daily flight from Delhi, could not take more than 28 commuters on its return journey because of load limitations imposed on the aircraft due to Shimla’s high height above sea level.

By Bus: Jubarhatti bus stand is a nearest stand. The distance between Shimla Airport and busstand is about 18 km. Taxi service can be used to reach bus stand.
By train: The nearest railhead is Jatogh and this is located at a distance of 14 km from Shimla airport. Railway station can be reached by the taxi service which runs back and forth from here.
