Delhi to Manali by road is a 14 hours journey and distance from Delhi to Manali is 570 km. From Delhi, one can travel to Delhi bypass and then take a straight road towards Sonipat, Panipat and onwards to Manali.
Delhi to Manali by road route is:
Delhi > Sonipat > Panipat > Karnal > Ambala > Shambhu Border > Ropar > Bilaspur > Mandi > Kullu > Manali
There are many options to travel by road from Delhi to Manali. One can travel by VOLVO buses, state transport ordinary buses and by personal car and taxi.
Delhi to Manali VOLVO
Traveling by VOLVO buses is the most convenient way to travel from Delhi to Manali. VOLVO buses leave in evening from Delhi. There are at least 10-12 private VOLVO buses which depart from Delhi to Manali. These buses depart between 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm from different places in Delhi. VOLVO buses leave mainly from Red Fort, Chandralok Building at Janpath and Majnu Ka Tila area of New Delhi.
Himachal Tourism (HPTDC) also run VOLVO bus service from Delhi to Manali. These buses leave from Chandralok Building at Janpath at 5.30 in the evening. HPTDC offers online bus bookings on it’s website.
HRTC, the state roadways also run VOLVO buses from Delhi to Manali. HRTC VOLVO buses leave from ISBT Kashmiri Gate in the evening. These buses can also be booked online on HRTC website.
Private buses and HPTDC VOLVO buses do not enter Chandigarh but instead travel straight to Ropar and beyond while HRTC VOLVO and ordinary buses travel via Chandigarh enroute to Manali.

Delhi to Manali by car
Journey from Delhi to Manali can also be done by car / taxi. Since it takes 14 hours to reach Manali one can take a stop midway to break the journey. The most popular destination for a break is Chandigarh. Delhi to Chandigarh is a 5 hours drive and Chandigarh to Manali is 9 hours further drive.
An ideal destination to take a break midway is Bilaspur. Bilaspur is 7 hours drive from Delhi and further Manali is 7 hours drive. There is a HPTDC hotel at Bilaspur which offers a comfortable stay. There are other 2-3 good private hotels also available at Bilaspur.
If one wants to stretch it a little further, one can travel up to Sunder Nagar near Mandi. Delhi to Sunder Nagar will be 9 hours drive. Sunder Nagar to Manali will be 5 hours drive the next day.
If one plans to take a break at Bilaspur or Sunder Nagar then travel straight and bypass Chandigarh all together.
